Amazon.com Product Description The MH125FAV sits in the middle of Mr. Heater's line of propane forced-air heaters for smaller jobs (see the MH35FAV and the MH85FAV). The heater gives you up to 55,000 Btu--enough to heat 1,250 square feet. Though the larger models give you more Btus, each heater in the line shares the same basic features, including an automatic shutoff with loss of flame or power supply and a high-output fan that circulates heat quickly. Hooking the heater up to the 20-pound propane cylinder (not included) is easy, and the 10-foot hose and regulator are included. CSA certified. One-year limited warranty.--Josh DettweilerWhat's in the Box Heater (motor grille assembly, motor assembly, fan, outer shell, handle, clip handle mounting, male elbow-fitting, spark plug, high limit control assembly, thermocouple bracket and spacer, orifice assembly, middle cylinder assembly, spark plug nut, flame holder assembly, fuel tube assembly, 13-inch long thermocouple, bracket ignition/relay, terminal board, relay assembly, solid state ignitor, variable rate valve, thermoelectric valve, strain relief bushing, power cord assembly, POL excess flow 1/4 MPT, 28-inch regulator WC, hose assembly LP, bottom panel, control box assembly, elevation plate and knob), 10-foot hose, regulator, operating instructions and owner's manual Five Tips for Buying a Heater Choosing a space heater is a matter of sifting through a bewildering array of types, power ratings, and fuel sources. Let's break it down a little to make the process easier. What are the different types of space heaters?
- Radiant heaters emit infrared radiation that directly warms the objects in front of the heaters (rather than the surrounding air). If you only need heat by a desk or in a small section of a room, a radiant heater is quiet and will use very little power.
- Forced-air heaters use a fan to blow air that has been warmed by metal or ceramic heating elements. A forced-air heater is appropriate for quickly heating up a small- to medium-sized room, but can be noisy.
- Convection heaters draw cold air from the floor; the air is warmed by heating coils and emitted from the top of the heater. A convection heater is appropriate for quickly heating up a small- to medium-sized room, but also can be noisy.
- Radiators work by heating oil enclosed in a reservoir, gradually heating the surrounding air. If heating speed isn't an issue, you might want to opt for a radiator. These are extremely quiet and effective--perfect for bedrooms.
Should I buy an electric or a combustion model? If you want a heater that will be available in emergencies, or that can heat areas larger than a single room, choose a "combustion" model--one that is powered by a gas or fuel like propane, kerosene, natural gas, or diesel. Which fuel type you choose depends largely on convenience and local availability. For example, diesel would be appropriate for a heater you take with you on long car trips. How powerful a heater do I need? Heaters are rated by BTU, which stands for British Thermal Unit (the amount of heat needed to heat one pound of water by 1 degree F). To find out how many BTU you need:
- Calculate the volume of the space to be heated by multiplying square footage by height.
- Multiply that number by 4 if your insulation is poor, 3 if it's average, or 2 if it's good.
The resulting number is a ballpark figure for how many BTU you'll need.Do space heaters cost a lot to operate? As a general rule, electric space heaters are more expensive to use than combustion models. To ensure energy efficiency, a thermostat is a must-have feature for any heater. For radiant heaters, models with a 360 degree heating surface can heat larger spaces. If you need a forced-air heater, models with ceramic elements tend to be more efficient. Are space heaters a fire hazard? Space heaters are implicated in about 25,000 residential fires every year. To ensure proper safety, always follow the manufacturer's usage instructions and fill out the warranty card to receive informational updates from the manufacturer. Also, look for extra safety features such as an automatic shutoff switch that can shut down the unit if, for example, it gets upended. In addition, choose a model where the heating element is adequately enclosed within the unit.

Supply warehouse February 12, 2010 Daryl Oakes (Broken Bow, OK) I purchased this for additional heating in a larger warehouse. It is a little small for a lot of heat but I also have 16' ceilings in a 60x60 warehouse! We set it up & work in front of it on really cold days. It is not our only source of heat so it works well. Would be perfect for smaller building with 8-9 foot ceilings.
Great product January 21, 2010 Pleased in Michigan 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great heater, works well and I would recommend it to anyone. Set at the 55,000 BTU setting, it is a little noisy but not an issue as reported by others. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is they put the old style LP connector on the hose. Maybe not all states have upgraded to the new connection, but I purchased the new connector and replaced it.
Mr Heater(R) January 7, 2010 NLW Before purchasing this product, I pictured it larger than it actually is. For the size of the heater, this works great. I live in MI and am currently using it in my 1,400 sq.ft. shop. It heats up the whole shop (to where its comfortable...almost no jacket) in about a 1/2 hr. on high. I knew that forced air heaters can sometimes be SUPER LOUD, but Mr. Heater is fairly quiet compaired to previous forced air heaters. OVERALL: Great product, Good price.
Good quick heat November 28, 2009 Paul E. Jerome 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This heater works very well with only little word of caution, this is a larger size room heater, and it works better if you have some control of ventilation, as it clearly works on the concept of hogging some of the oxygen. Other than the fact that I wouldn't run it all the time for respiratory concerns this heater works well and heats a room pretty quickly. I was also surprised at how much heat you get before using up a 5 gallon propane tank.
P.S. I never had any issues with the ignitor as some have complained. Mine fires right up and might need the ignitor pushed twice after a couple seconds and it is good to go.
Great Heater For The Money!! March 16, 2009 Gary E. Young (Willow Spring, NC USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have owned Mr. Heater products for years. I still use the single tank Mr. Heater that I have had for 20+ years without no problems. This forced-air heater is used in my 24x26 detached garage. It brings the temperature up 20-25 degrees in less than 30 minutes on the low setting which sipps the fuel at a lower rate. I then turn it off and turn it back on when the temperature starts to dip. Amazon shipped my product to me in a couple of days after ordering. Super fast shipping plus great price.
I would definitely recommend buying this product.
